India just has to win their remaining three games to guarantee a position in the last four, while South Africa needs to win two more games to guarantee a spot in the semifinals. Right now, there is a three-way competition for the remaining two semifinal slots.<br />
Afghanistan, captained by Hasmatullah Shahidi, has to win its last three games to move up to 12 points in order to advance to the semifinals. In such scenario, at least two of Australia’s or New Zealand’s games would need to be losses.</p>
<p>Australia and New Zealand are now tied at eight points each, with the Black Caps moving up to third place thanks to their superior net run rate (NRR). In the event that Australia, New Zealand, and Afghanistan tie for the most points (12 each), the NRR will determine which teams advance to the final four. Afghanistan’s next opponents are South Africa (November 10), Australia (November 7) and the Netherlands (November 3).</p>
