Ravindra Jadeja is back at NCA for recuperation ahead of India vs. England after missing the second Test due to a hamstring ailment

After suffering a hamstring injury, star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to continue his recuperation. Remarkably, Jadeja’s hamstring strain from the first Test has kept him out of the second Test against England. Jadeja posted a picture of the National Cricket Academy on Instagram along with the message, “Home for next few days.”

Because of Jadeja’s ankle setback, three of India’s more seasoned players will not participate in the second Test. Middle-order hitter KL Rahul joined Jadeja on the injured list with a quadriceps, and Virat Kohli had previously withdrawn from the first two Tests due to personal reasons.

“On Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad, Jadeja was injured in the hamstring while Rahul reported having soreness in his right quadriceps. The BCCI statement said, “The medical team of BCCI is keeping an eye on the two individuals’ progress.”

WHO WILL TAKE JADEJA’S PLACE?
While it is difficult to replace any of the three, Jadeja is the most essential. Given his total virtuosity, Jadeja would undoubtedly be ranked first in a national multi-format MVP survey.

Jadeja is a dynamic fielder whose efforts have often been crucial in deciding match results, a skilful left-arm spinner, and a flexible left-handed batsman who has matured into a skilled Test-match star performer over the last six years.

His batting average of above 40 and his bowling average of less than 25 throughout the course of 53 Test matches since 2016 have shown his importance to the squad. The fact that he has surpassed Ashwin to become India’s preferred spinner overseas highlights the extent of his bowling ability. For India, filling the gap left in Visakhapatnam is a huge issue.

Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar, and Sarfaraz Khan were all chosen by the selection committee for the Indian team. In the India A team for the third and final multi-day match against the England Lions, which gets underway in Ahmedabad on February 1, 2024, Saransh Jain has been appointed as Washington Sundar’s replacement. Avesh Khan can be called up to the Test squad while he is still touring with the Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy team.

For the second Test, India made three changes to their lineup. The home team has three possible options to replace Jadeja: Washington Sundar, Saurabh Kumar, and pure wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
