<p>The most famous tennis tournament in the world is taking place in 2023, and fans in SW19 may follow Andy Murray and Cameron Norrie’s development as British hopes.</p>
<p>Murray, a two-time All-England Championship champion, defeated fellow Briton Ryan Peniston in straight sets to open his campaign, while Norrie triumphed over Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic.</p>

<p>The SW19’s opening round of matches featuring Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas and Austrian Dominic Thiem, as well as matches involving other celebrities, were all postponed due to rain, which also interfered with other matches.</p>
<p>Norrie and Murray were able to finish their matches thanks to the SW19’s retractable roof, which was used to ward off the elements after top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz and women’s defending champion Elena Rybakina defeated their first-round opponents on the same courts.</p>
<p>The top-ranked player in the world defeated French veteran Jeremy Chardy in straight sets (6-0, 6-2, 7-5) to open his grass-court major campaign in commanding fashion. The victory took place on Court 1 before Norrie’s match against Machac.</p>
<p>While Rybakina overcame a set down to defeat Shelby Rogers, an American opponent, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Roger Federer, Rybakina’s idol since childhood, was there in the Royal Box and sat next to Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales.</p>
<p>Federer, a record eight-time gentlemen’s singles winner at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, received a standing ovation as he left the center court after being recognized for his accomplishments to the major and the sport.</p>
<p>The English audience expressed their admiration for the Swiss master, who has made a name for himself in the oldest and most prestigious grand slam competitions.</p>
